If you’ve got a garage that is messy beyond degree, you are probably like a lot of other people. The garage often becomes a place where home owners store stuff, rather than where they park their cars. If you want to make your garage a place to park your car again, you might have a lot of work to do before you have a clean garage. The good news is that there are some things you can do so that your garage can be used for the purpose it was intended.
One of the first things you might want to do for your garage organization is to get everything out of the garage and go through it. You could make a pile of stuff to keep, one to throw out, and one to give away to a thrift store or to sell in a yard sale. As you go through all the items that were in your garage, make sure to be honest about whether or not you need to keep things. Being honest could be the best way to end up with less junk and more useful items. After you have gone through it all, toss your garbage and take your reusable items to the thrift store so that you do not get tempted to keep something.
The next thing you might want to do is install some garage shelving. Whether you have an existing closet, are planning to install a closet, or just want to hang some shelves right on the garage walls, it could be a huge benefit to have some shelves where you can store your keep-able items. On the high shelves that are harder to reach, you can store things that you only use once in a while. For example, if you only go camping once a year, you may want to keep your camping gear on the top shelf.
The lower shelves can be used to store items that you use all the time. This might include sports equipment, tools, and toys for the kids. Depending on the amount of space that you have, you may want to hang bikes from the ceiling with bike hooks. You could hang certain tools on the walls in a peg board. There are so many options for creating a custom garage that you can come up with something that works the very best for you and can park your car in the garage again.
Before you leave your car out in the rain, consider cleaning out the garage. You can take some time to go through all the items that you have stored in the garage, create some organizational space in the garage, and then put things away in a neat and orderly fashion.
